This reprint of Master Leung Shum's 1985 publication Wu Style tai Chi Chuan has been reformatted and extensively edited both for ease of use and for accuracy.  It also includes a new section on push hands.  Please be aware that this book is intended as a Shum's Eagle claw kung fu and Wu style Tai Chi Chuan.  It should  not be used as an instruction book to learn the form, but rather as a memory assistant to keep the sequence and details intact.

The instruction use certain abbreviations and shorthand. "L" and "R" refer to left and right.  "Front" refers to the front of the room, the direction you face to begin the form, while "forward" refers to the direction you are facing at the  moment.  Similarly, "back" refers to the back of the room and "backward" indicates the direction behind you at that moment.  Turning the body is always initiated by the waist, so "turn waist" means "turn from the waist".  While written as clearly as possible, all instructions rely on the reader's knowledge of the way  of movement and positions used in Wu style tai chi.  These basics are explained briefly on page 17 as a reminder of the proper stances, handwork and footwork, as taught by Master Shum.
